Open Access Fibre Network

We have once again demonstrated our commitment to the communities we serve by initiating an Easter Egg Drive for Scottsdene schools. We often provide free fibre internet to schools within our network coverage, but this time we wanted to do something special for the children.

We were pleased with the success of the drive, with over 1220 eggs collected and distributed by our employees to Cavalleria Primary School’s students and staff. The school expressed its gratitude for the donation, which brought light and joy to the children’s lives.

Over 1220 eggs collected and distributed by our employees to Cavalleria Primary School.

“At Octotel, we believe in the power of generosity and that everyone should have access to something as simple and meaningful as an Easter egg because that is how we connect at Octotel,” stated Carly Haydricks, Octotel’s Corporate Social Responsibility Lead.

Our commitment to giving back to the community was highlighted by the unexpected blessing for the teachers at the school, who had difficulty obtaining donations of any kind. The donation was greatly appreciated, not only for its generous quantity but also for the sentiment behind it, showing that our company cares about the community it serves.

“We were greatly impressed with the humility and compassion shown by Octotel employees when they interacted with the children. It is an encouraging sign when a company can help kids who aren’t as fortunate when they have the means to do so,” said Mr. Leornard Africa, Principal of Cavalleria Primary School.

We provided a joyous and festive atmosphere, with the children eagerly collecting the eggs and participating in Easter-themed activities.

Jolandra Cloete, a parent of one of the students, expressed her gratitude towards our company, stating “I am thankful to Octotel for giving us these opportunities. My son, who attends the school, informed me about the competition, and I entered with the hope of winning, knowing that many other parents would also be competing. When I discovered that I had won, I was overjoyed. As I couldn’t afford anything special for my son’s birthday, I pledged to use the voucher to purchase something nice for him.”

Jolandra Cloete, a parent of one of the students won herself a R500 Takealot voucher together with Mr. Leornard Africa, Principal of Cavalleria Primary School.

Our Easter Egg Drive highlights the importance of corporate social responsibility, and the need for more corporate generosity towards local communities. We can only hope that this initiative will inspire other companies to follow suit and contribute to making the world a better place.
