Open Access Fibre Network

WE ARE THRILLED TO SHARE SOME EXCITING NEWS WITH  YOU!

At Octotel, we believe in the power of technology to level the playing field and provide equal opportunities for everyone. We’ve recognized the digital divide that has affected underserved communities, and we’re determined to bridge that gap right in the Lwandle Nomzamo community. Our Fibre internet is not just about connectivity; it’s about empowerment and improving lives.

Our expansion into Lwandle represents a significant milestone for us. This endeavour is expected to transform education, business opportunities, and the overall quality of life in the community. Our goal is to extend our fibre network to more households in the Western Cape by the end of this year.

Our Chief Fibre Officer, Tyrone Ross, says it best: “We’re committed to providing reliable and affordable fibre connectivity to communities like Lwandle. We want to equip our fellow South Africans with the tools they need to access information, educational resources, and job opportunities.”

But we don’t stop at just delivering internet connectivity; we’re dedicated to making a meaningful impact in the lives of Lwandle residents. Our approach includes creating job opportunities and uplifting the local communities we serve. We collaborate with local contractors and technicians, facilitating training and skills development programs to equip individuals for the ongoing maintenance and support of the fibre network.

Xolani Diniso, the Lwandle Nomzamo Councillor, emphasized the significance of Octotel’s fibre connectivity for the local community. “We are a township that has been excluded from the digital economy due to a lack of access,” he said. “This has deprived us of the countless opportunities the digital economy offers, such as remote work, access to educational resources, and entrepreneurship. Octotel’s arrival will greatly benefit our community.”

Our Fibre rollout in Lwandle represents hope and an opportunity for community members to explore new possibilities. Diniso added, “We appreciate Octotel’s commitment to social responsibility over profit, as they strive to leave a legacy in our community. Connecting our schools to the internet for free will ensure our children have the essential skills needed for academic success.”

This isn’t just an advancement in connectivity; this is a leap towards a brighter future. Together, let’s embrace this exciting journey towards a digitally empowered Lwandle because that is HOW WE CONNECT!
